INNER-CITY BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND

Leafy and friendly yet connected and cosmopolitan, Newmarket has long been regarded as one of Brisbane’s very best northern suburbs. Situated just five kilometres from the city, Newmarket’s heart consists of a thriving commercial hub, which includes recently revamped shopping and entertainment destination, Newmarket Village.

Step away from the main hub and the area switches gears. You’ll be greeted by peaceful residential streets adorned by wonderful old Queenslanders, pre and post-war houses and upmarket apartment complexes and townhouses. With convenience on your doorstep and a surprising amount of green space for an inner-city suburb, Newmarket is a favourite with growing families, young professionals and sophisticated down-sizers alike.

Artboard 2    THE APPEAL

Close to everything.

Whether it’s the CBD, Airport or a grocery store, it’s convenient to Newmarket. The suburb is well serviced by public transport, being just five stops away from Brisbane Central.

Like many Brisbane suburbs, it has some interesting history that people love to share. Originally called The Three Mile Scrub due to its distance from the city it was changed to Newmarket once the new livestock market relocated there from Normanby in the 1880’s. There are reminders of this history in some of the suburb’s streets such as Saleyards Lane.

Homely and in High Demand.

Newmarket is largely made up of established and older families and this is reflected in the property. Beyond the hub of the suburb are quieter tree – lined streets with stand-out family homes nestled on the bends of Enoggera Creek.

The suburb is well-positioned in a cluster of highly sought after Northside suburbs. Surprisingly, only half of the suburb are owner occupiers, suggesting that many people live there to take in the convenient lifestyle as they try to buy into the market.

Community-centric.

From the central hub to the neighbourly back streets, Newmarket has a genuine community feel, complete with wide expanses of multi-use green space. These connect to adjacent suburbs, creating a long expanse of parklands and walking paths. The local school, Newmarket State School, has an active P&C Association, that plays a large role in the community spirit of the suburb.

Newmarket Road is the key thoroughfare in the area, connecting commuters through to main roads for swift access to surrounding areas and the Brisbane CBD. This bustling strip is also home to a local institution – The Newmarket Hotel.
