Situated in a prime Inner East locale, Camp Hill is home to a growing population of 11,000+ people, of which 75% are families.
As families make up three quarters of the Camp Hill population, this demographic is largely significant to the suburb. So why do families think this is the best suburb to live in Brisbane?
School Catchments
According to Real Estate Agent and Camp Hill area specialist, Robyn Tait, a major consideration for families when choosing where to purchase a home is the proximity and quality of nearby schools. Camp Hill is in the catchment zone for several sought-after schools, including Camp Hill State Infants and Primary School, St Thomas’ Catholic Primary School and Whites Hill State College.
“Many buyers now select zone first and post code second. The calibre of both public and private schools in the Camp Hill area and surrounds is high and it’s certainly a major drawcard,” says Robyn Tait.
New childcare facilities have also been introduced to the suburb in recent years, including Timber Tots, at the site of the old timber mill on Bennetts Road and a new centre currently under construction on the corner of Warilda Street and Old Cleveland Road.

Location
The suburbs ease of access to freeways and the CBD is also a factor considered by families, which contributes majorly to why Camp Hill is the best suburb to live in Brisbane. Located a short six kilometres to Brisbane’s city centre, it’s a short trip to the city and Southbank by car and there are express bus services along Old Cleveland Road.
For families heading up or down the coast on weekends, there is easy access to major arterials.
Lifestyle
Camp Hill also offers its family residents the perfect fusion of metropolitan living in a relaxed suburban setting.
“In terms of lifestyle options, Camp Hill really has undergone a renaissance in the past couple of years”, says Robyn Tait.
The ever-expanding Camp Hill Marketplace, which has recently completed a twenty-million-dollar redevelopment, offers locals a wide array of restaurants, cafés and specialty retailers. Here, Friday is ‘fun day’. In the morning, Mama’s Home children’s boutique hosts a Mums and Bubs reading group on the lawn in front of their shop. In the evening, families can enjoy a bite to eat and free live music in the outdoor seating area.
For the weekend, there is no better spot than Martha Street, with its fantastic assortment of trendy eateries. The newest among them is Florence, which has already proven itself as an area favourite.
The suburb also boasts an abundance of recreational areas. Whites Hill Reserve offers family sporting grounds as well as biking and walking trails. At popular Perth Street Park, there is an off-leash area for dogs, playground and barbecue area for the kids and outdoor fitness equipment for parents.
It’s easy to see why Camp Hill has become a family mecca within Brisbane’s inner South-East and why this demographic believe Camp Hill is the best suburb to live in Brisbane. Location, lifestyle and top-notch schools - this suburb really has it all.
