Where to find Brisbane’s most beautiful jacarandas

Spring is here and the city is transforming into a jacaranda-peppered wonderland! Much like Brisbane’s selling season, these lavender-tone blooms are flourishing!

Keen to see it all? Don’t miss these exceptional locations…

Wilson Park, Norman Park

Positioned in the heart of Norman Park’s romantically named Poet’s Corner, this delightful spot is loved for its sprawling grounds and popular playgrounds. Come jacaranda season, the parklands are fringed by a purple canopy and look straight out of a Darcy Doyle painting. Gather the family, pack a picnic, bring along a footy and enjoy a wholesome day amongst the jacarandas.

Fairfield Dog Park, Fairfield and Jacaranda Park, Yeronga

Looking for a new place to take your fur-baby? Only four kilometres from the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, the Fairfield Dog Park is shaded by jacarandas that cover the grounds in a purple carpet – perfect for puppy photos! Driving along Fairfield Road is also a treat, when an avenue of jacarandas leads the way to your destination. While in the area, be sure to grab a coffee from one of the many renowned cafes nearby and check out the aptly named Jacaranda Park in Yeronga.

Guyatt Park, Saint Lucia

Synonymous with jacarandas, Saint Lucia’s parklands are always an excellent option. For a fun day out, catch the CityCat from your most convenient location, discover purple-dotted gardens along the river and then depart at Guyatt Park. Children and the young at heart will love the Ninja Warrior-inspired facilities, while those seeking a little relaxation will be captivated by the scenic river views and jacaranda surroundings.

New Farm Park, New Farm

Arguably one of Brisbane’s most-loved parklands, New Farm Park is a definite go-to for jacarandas. With one of the city’s oldest and largest collections of violet-hued blossoms, this inner-city icon looks utterly spellbinding this time of year! To beat the crowds, make your way here early on a Saturday morning and wander through the acclaimed Jan Powers Farmers Markets. Fresh produce, gourmet morsels and stunning scenery – who could ask for more?

Lake Eden, North Lakes and Old Petrie Town, Whiteside

In Brisbane’s north, Town Park Lake Eden promises an incredible experience. Featuring sensational wildlife, barbecue facilities and a 10,000-step walking track, the parklands have some of the largest jacaranda trees in the Moreton Bay region. If you’re looking to get out amongst nature, add this spot to the list! Just a short drive away, Whiteside’s Old Petrie Town is home to charming historical stores, towering Moreton Bay Figs and flourishing jacaranda trees.

Bonus – Brisbane’s sparkle trees

Want to uncover a little bit of magic all year round? Across the city, a collection of giant fig trees are adorned with masses of twinkle lights. For fairy-like enchantment, make tracks to the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, West End’s Orleigh Park or East Street in Fortitude Valley.
