September is just around the corner, and with it comes a lot of great events.
This is the month when everyone seems to come out of hibernation, so if you’ve been lying in bed all winter watching Netflix, then now’s your chance to get out and about in the local community.
From Father’s Day events to school fete, this month is looking fantastic!
Father’s Day Guy Tea
When: September 2, 10am - 1pm
Where: Pig & Whistle Indooroopilly
Does Dad always complain about dainty sandwiches and petit fours? Then this is the “high tea” for him.
Introducing - the Guy Tea.
This Father’s Day, the Pig & Whistle is doing things a bit differently and have created a Guy Tea fit for the dads out there. This meal consists of three tiers of tasty morsels served with a beer for $42.50 per person.

Our World Art Fest
When: September 7-9, 9am - 4pm
Where: Graceville Uniting Church
Milpera State High School will be presenting their annual art show from September 7th to 9th. This is a great opportunity to purchase some stunning artworks from students part of our local communities.
The event will not only showcase the artworks of these students, but also feature live music, Indigenous activites, a Milpera breakfast on the Saturday and a coffee van on Friday and Saturday mornings.
This exhibition is always worth attending, and you may find just the piece you’ve been searching for.
Chapel Hill State School Festival on the Hill
When: September 8, 12pm - 4pm
Where: Chapel Hill State School
The Chapel Hill State School Festival on the Hill is back again, and it’s guaranteed to be bigger and better than ever.
With a dunk tank, plenty of rides and the famous cake stall - there’s truly something for everyone.
Whether you’ve got kids, need jam or just want to have a fun afternoon while helping your local school with their annual fundraiser, this is an event worth heading along to!
Oxley State School Trivia Night
When: September 8, 6pm
Where: Oxley State School
If you’re a fan of trivia, then it’s time to test your skills at the Oxley State School Trivia Night.
Even if you’re not a member of the school community, you’re welcome to attend, and $25 gets you entry to the trivia and a burger on the night.
The theme this year is “Through the Decades” and there are plenty of prizes on offer, including best dressed!

Weeds - from Foe to Friend!
When: September 8, 1pm - 3pm
Where: 49 Arras St, Yeronga
Did you know that many of your common garden weeds are not only great for your garden, but are actually edible? Neither did we!
This workshop aims to provide education about many of these weeds, and you’re even invited to bring along a weed from home you’d like to learn more about.
$45 will get you the workshop with consulting gardener Kate Wall, afternoon tea and a (non-weed) plant.
