What a weekend! With auction attendance and clearance rates at an all-time high across Brisbane, it’s no surprise that Place’s Biggest Ever Auction Weekend was a huge success!
The weekend was expertly led by Chief Auctioneer, Peter Burgin and Managing Director, Paul Curtain who all agreed that the amazing weekend was a testament to the great support provided by Place people and our local community.
Brisbane turned on the heat over the weekend, but this didn’t discourage crowds from near and far joining in on the action. 52 energetic auctions were held across the three-day event with the end result of 42 homes being sold under the hammer, a clearance rate of 81%.

Chief Auctioneer Peter Burgin noted the fantastic community encouragement over the weekend and mentioned that while the increased volume of property was going to test the overall clearance rate, it was beautifully sustained.
“The weekend atmosphere was full of high energy, and everyone was in good spirits,” Peter said.
“We reached an average of 10 registered bidders across our auctions, which just further endorses that there’s such great support for the Brisbane property market."
First home buyers (pictured in the featured photo) Daniel Cash and Taylah Griffith were the successful bidders of 38 Stanley Road, Seven Hills purchasing the property under the hammer for $1,135,000.
"It was a relief, I think Taylah just about fainted. Throughout the bidding process, there were a lot of emotions, so by the end of it we were pretty exhausted," Daniel said.
Taylah is an Engineer and Daniel is a Home Lender and for Daniel, it was exciting to be on the other side of the auction transaction.
"It was different being on the other side of it and actually being at the auction yourself, I’m used to being on the loans side," Daniel said.
"We had been to a few auctions in the past, but this was the first one that we had really bided at. Another auction that we went to, the first bid pushed us out of our price range, but we knew that would happen so we were just going for the experience and to get an understanding of how they work.
"With this property though, I know Taylah was very emotionally invested and had fallen in love with it, so we didn’t want to let it slide."
The auction, conducted by Paul Curtain and Lead Agent of Place Bulimba Shane Hicks was highly competitive, with 16 registered bidders on the day.
"The energy was good, you get a different feeling when there’s a lot of people around, there’s certainly an atmosphere," Daniel said.
"It was good but nerve-wracking, the Auctioneer Paul certainly had us on our toes waiting for the hammer to drop.
"It felt like minutes had passed when we were waiting for the hammer to drop! I’m sure I will remember the day for ever and [will] remember the relief! That will stick with me.
"We're hosting Christmas now which was news to me! But it's exciting!"
