Mark early October in your calendars, Brisbane – Oktoberfest will be taking over the Brisbane Showgrounds once again!
Returning after two years, the much-loved cultural festival will see crowds enjoy everything from traditional German fare to foot-tapping Oompah band music and thrilling carnival rides over two exciting weekends (October 7 to 9 and October 14 to 16).
Of course, there will be plenty of brewed-on-site beer that follows the strict Bavarian Purity Law. Want more? Attendees will also be treated to German wines, belly-warming schnitzels and giant pork knuckles. Adding to it all are fabulous Miss Oktoberfest and Bavarian Strongman competitions, plus a German car show and a special themed trivia night.
Originally a celebration of the marriage of Bavarian Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen, Oktoberfest has become a much-loved event showcasing the rich German culture.
Brisbane’s festivities are recognised as Australia’s largest traditional German folk festival and have been listed by National Geographic as one of the top 10 Oktoberfest celebrations across the world. Typically, 35,000 attendees visit across the two weekends each year – so be sure to book your tickets soon!
