From property photography to videography and drones, Place Estate Agents are constantly evolving in the digital space to ensure that we can provide the best solutions for our clients when marketing their home for sale or rent. In 2021, there is a plethora of technology available to ensure people can view properties no matter the circumstances. One of these, is Matterport.
But what is Matterport and how can it assist in the buying and selling process?
Matterport is a powerful 3D scan technology that allows potential buyers or tenants to fully immerse themselves in a property, digitally! The new technology captures a collection of 3D images within a home and pieces it together to build a virtual walk-through. Once finished, people can take themselves through a home, without actually setting a foot inside.
The service has become increasingly popular amongst vendors, with many investing in it to not only stand out in the marketplace but allow interstate and overseas buyers to view a home with ease. Alongside video, Matterport is an incredible resource when in person inspections are not an option.
According to Matterport, people are shown to be 300% more engaged with a Matterport virtual tour than they are with 2D images. The 3D tours can help create better experiences for buyers and ultimately assist with the successful sale of your home.

Lead Agent from Place Woolloongabba, Ben Croft has had continued success with Matterport and believes it can be a highly valuable asset to a property campaign.
"I've had a very positive experience using Matterport and have found no negatives," Mr Croft said.
"We've had a very good response during the lockdown period especially with the uncertainty week-to-week. Vendors have taken positively to it and having the Matterport does safeguard them these uncertain times."
Mr Croft stated that the scans have been beneficial to buyers, both living in Brisbane and interstate.
"Buyers love it. It’s important in this market as well with so many people coming through open homes and we do have limits with the restrictions," Mr Croft stated.
"For people to be able to walk-through prior to actually coming and identifying what they’re after is great. With the level of interstate interest that we have, people are buying site unseen, so it just adds that next level of guidance through the property without having to physically view it."
Mr Croft recently utilised the 3D scans for a unit block in Coorparoo and noted the benefits it provides to tenants.
'We’ve just listed a unit block in Coorparoo with five units and we’ve conducted a Matterport scan throughout each unit," Mr Croft said.
"This not only assists our buyers, but it puts less impact on the tenants because a lot of people don’t necessarily need to come through the apartments as they can conduct a virtual walk-through."
So, should I ask my agent about including a Matterport scan in my property campaign?
