PSA: Valentine’s Day is just around the corner… it’s this Sunday, to be exact. If you haven’t yet organised a gift and are scrambling for inspiration, we’ve curated a quick list of ideas. These fabulous gifts will also help out local creatives and suppliers – what’s not to love?

Mini Valentine's Layer Cake from Jocelyn's Provisions

A gift that’s sure to go down a treat (pun intended), a mini layer cake from local favourite Jocelyn’s Provisions is just the right amount of sweetness for two. Available for pick-up until Sunday the 14th, these indulgent beauties come in an array of irresistible flavours – think Lemon and Elderflower Layer Cake and Chocolate Sour Cream Cake.

Delectable sugar biscuits, cupcakes and a heart-shaped butter cake also appear on their Valentines menu. Pop into their James Street, Albion, Newstead, Camp Hill or Brisbane City bakeries and just try to resist eating it all yourself before the special day.

Something sparkly from Natasha Schweitzer Jewellery

Still wanting to keep things classic? Worn by the likes of Miranda Kerr and Lara Worthington, Australian jeweller Natasha Schweitzer Jewellery handcrafts utterly stunning pieces with serious attention-to-detail.

Celebrating quality and refinement, the James Street-based creative offers a range of exquisite pieces – from delicate bracelets and eye-catching earrings to tasteful necklaces. How utterly lovely!

Hold a koala at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Who could say no to that sweet face? A true Brisbane icon, Fig Tree Pocket’s Lone Pine Sanctuary is where you can spend the day feeding adorable kangaroos, watching wombats snooze in the sunshine and even hold a cuddly koala. Take us there now.

As part of the wildlife sanctuary’s 60-minute Koala Discover Tour, you’ll go behind the scenes and learn how these beautiful creatures are cared for. A true highlight, though, is getting up close with a koala for an unforgettable photoshoot. Passionate animal-lovers, Lone Pine also invites you to sponsor the sanctuary’s animals to help look after their healthThat’s sure to get you in the good books.

Get Schooled on your spirits at Brisbane Gin Distillery

Gin-lovers, do not miss this. Located in West End, Brisbane Gin Distillery runs incredible ‘Gin School’ experiences that will walk you through the essentials of creating the popular spirit. It’s not complicated – you’ll choose from over 140 botanicals before letting the experts guide you through the distilling journey and walking away with your own bespoke bottle. Oh, there are also snacks and drinks to enjoy.

If sipping on a refreshing beer is more your style, book yourselves one of Brewdog’s fantastic Beer School tours. The Murarrie-based brewery’s master brewers will show you how their renowned craft brews are created, all while sampling the goods, of course. Cheers to you two!

Get creative at The PaintBar

For something a little different, pick up a paintbrush at Jindalee’s The Paint Bar. While their February 14 classes are all booked out, you can treat your significant other to a voucher and enjoy one of their sensational workshops another day. Brownie points for forward-thinking!

There are plenty of options to choose from, but we can’t go past their ‘Paint your Pet’ and watercolour classes. The best part? You can bring along your favourite drink and toast your achievements together.

Get revved up at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art

Whether you consider yourselves rev-heads or you’re simply seeking a unique day out, head along to GOMA’s ‘The Motorcycle: Design, Art, Desire’ in South Bank.

Showcasing over 100 of the most amazing motorcycles ever assembled, this spectacular exhibition features extraordinary historical vehicles and uber-cool artworks – the Fonz would approve. Leather jackets and dark shades are optional but definitely encouraged.
