Whether you've reached the end of your lease or just want to get organised in advance, exit inspections are always a good thing to keep in the back of your mind so you can get your whole bond back.

What's the key to a hassle-free exit from your lease? A top-notch cleaning regime. There are many ways to attack this part of your rental journey; you can do it yourself, hire bond cleaners to do it for you, or pay your friends/loved ones in the form of alcohol and food to get the job done. Regardless, it's essential for you to have your rental property as clean as how you found it (hopefully in ship-shape) to ensure a smooth transition.

If you’re planning on hiring bond cleaners, they’ll generally do a good job getting everything spick and span.

Jessica Tuite from Place Graceville is a New Business & Leasing Agent and she’s here to provide some tips for those planning to do a bond clean themselves.

For every room, Jessica says it’s best to start at the top and work down.

Kitchen

For the kitchen, you’re going to want to focus on the tops of cupboards, inside and outside cupboards, the oven, range-hood, dishwasher and sink.

Don’t forget to clean your dishwasher’s filter and the splash-back!

Living and Dining Areas

If you have carpets, they need to be cleaned to the same standard that they were prior to moving in.

Make sure you also clean any fans, air-conditioning units, light fittings, screens, window tracks and windows.

Bedrooms

Similar to other rooms, you’re going to want to clean skirting boards, any fittings and the tops of power points.

Make sure you give any mirrored surfaces a clean and wipe over any bars and shelves in the wardrobes.

Bathrooms

Jessica says to make sure you leave a lot of time for the bathrooms if you’re cleaning them yourself, because they can take longer than you think!

Scrub the grout and get rid of any mould or soap scum that may have accumulated, as well as under soap dishes, taps and the bath.
