Winter is well and truly here. If you’re looking to make your home feel a little more cosy, then we’ve got just the thing.
Luke Watson owns Nest Homewares & Gifts in Kenmore and says it doesn’t take much to add a little bit of warmth to your home in winter.
Forget trying to work out how to install a fireplace, here are some simple solutions.
Tip 1: Change the Scent
For summer, it’s all about the tropics. From coconut to lime, they’re your go-to scents for the warm weather.
Heading into autumn and winter though, it’s time to switch to scents which give feelings of warmth.
Cinnamon and sandalwood are great options for this!
Tip 2: Dusty Pink
The colour of this season is dusty pink. We can guarantee you’re going to start seeing it everywhere.
If you’re not a pink person, you might just like this one.
More muted than regular pink, it’s a shade which blends easily and fits into the background of a room.
Try throw pillows, accessories or ceramics in this colour.
Tip 3: Lighting
Did you know that a great way to alter a room is to change the way you light it?
Try changing your white LED bulbs to warm ones in lampshades to make a room feel cosy.
Or better yet - try a new lampshade. For a low price, you can completely alter the look of a lamp (maybe a dusty pink shade to fit the season?) and a room!
Tip 4: Add cushions or throws
What better way to create warmth than by adding things that keep you warm?
Add some extra cushions, throw pillows or blankets and throws to the spaces of your home to create a cushy space that makes you feel warm just from looking at it.
These items help to make a room feel more homely and add a sense of calm.
