Who would have guessed that a frequently asked question by those on Google is “which Brisbane suburbs are the best”?

Fortunately, we’re here to answer that question!

While we at the Place Graceville office may be biased, we firmly believe the Brisbane suburbs that are the best are the western suburbs and the outer ring.

Why?

Western Suburbs People

This isn’t a knock against anyone living in other parts of Brisbane, but it’s a well-known fact* (at least to those living in the western suburbs) that the people out here are friendlier and enjoy life more.

This is why the western suburbs are some of Brisbane’s best suburbs. Most people know their neighbours because the majority of people live in houses rather than apartments, making it easier to lean over the fence for a chat or drop off mis-delivered mail.

Graceville, one of Brisbane’s most popular suburbs for breakfast and brunch, is often described by locals as 'Graceville village' due to the family-feel amongst locals and friendly chatter on both weekdays and weekends.

(*Not really a fact, more of an opinion)

Brisbane Shopping

Who needs Chermside when we’ve got Jindalee DFO and Indooroopilly Shopping Centre? Some of Brisbane’s best suburbs are a bit further out, and the western suburbs have no shortage of fantastic shopping options.

You don’t even need to venture into the city for awesome shopping opportunities, and if you don’t feel like visiting a major shopping centre, Kenmore Village also has plenty of small independent shops.

Public Transport, Bikeways and Roads

Now we know what you might be thinking - Brisbane’s public transport sometimes leaves something to be desired. But here in the western suburbs, we are just as connected as everywhere else in Brisbane.

We have awesome train lines running through the centre of Chelmer and beyond, and buses connect commuters to everywhere else.

The western suburbs in Brisbane are the best because even if you work or study in another area, you can easily get around using the public transport system, bikeways or toll roads.

The excellent public transport network also makes these suburbs some of Brisbane’s best suburbs for young families.

Affordable Homes

When it comes to reasons about which Brisbane suburbs are the best, house affordability is often high on the list.

A recent report released by the Queensland Rental Tenancy Authority and published on news.com.au reported that Rocklea is the cheapest suburb in Brisbane to rent in, with median rent for a 2 bed property costing around $208 per week.

Salisbury is also high on the list for affordability in the western suburbs, followed by Durack, Inala, Doolandella and Darra. According to realestate.com.au, you can also find homes for under $550,000 in many of the western suburbs like Rocklea and Bellbowrie - something unheard of in many other parts of the city!

Graceville’s rent isn’t quite as low, but provides a plethora of reasons which renters are happy to pay more for like rail, cafes and schools.
