Oscar Oscar Salons Ladies Raceday
If you’re all about the fashion on the field parade, make tracks (pun intended) for the Oscar Oscar Salons Ladies Raceday at Doomben Racecourse (Saturday, October 23). With a focus on classic springtime florals, the event’s Fashions on the Field competition will see some of Brisbane’s most well-groomed take to the runway. Whether you plan to participate yourself or just watch, there’s sure to be plenty of entertainment. You will also be able to catch exhilarating live racing and sip on delicious cocktails. How very civilised…
Melbourne Cup lunch (various venues)
Ah, the big one. You simply can’t talk about Spring Racing Carnival events without mentioning the race that stops the nation. And lucky for you, a slew of fabulous venues across Brisbane are getting ready for Melbourne Cup (Tuesday, November 2).
If it’s a sophisticated outing you’re seeking, reserve your spot at James Street’s beloved SK Steak & Oyster or Gerard’s Bistro for a fine fare and equally fine refreshments. Nearby, Mr Percival’s, Felon’s Brewing Co and Ciao Papi at Howard Smith Wharves will catch the eye of those wanting to celebrate by the river. Or, pull up a chair at Eagle Street Pier’s Rico Bar or Fatcow Steak & Lobster. In the inner city and South Bank, Motorwagen, Customs House and the Emporium will also have you sorted. Whichever you opt for, you’ll be treated to a truly sensational day out.
Teddy Bears’ Picnic Family Raceday
One for the youngest of Spring Racing Carnival attendees, Eagle Farm Racecourse’s family-friendly Teddy Bears’ Picnic Family Raceday (Saturday, November 6) is always a marvellous way to top off the festivities. Boasting a programme of kid-friendly entertainment and exciting races, the event will also feature a children’s Fashions on the Field competition. The hottest accessory? Ol’ ted, of course.
For something a little different – V2 Helicopters
This year, why not really make an entrance? Perfect for skipping traffic, V2 Helicopters will take you on an unforgettable scenic flight before dropping you at the racecourse for all the action. Known for their professional service and luxury aircraft, this Archerfield-based group promises to take your next Spring Racing Carnival experience to new heights!
