Halloween is being celebrated in a big way across Brisbane’s suburbs this year.

In Brisbane’s Northside
Promising an incredible outing any time of year, the Redcliffe Markets will be going all-out Saturday (October 29) for its thrilling Festival of Frights event! Featuring over 200 stalls, delicious street food, live entertainment and kids’ activities, the free-to-attend waterfront market will also include a dazzling fireworks display, sideshow alley games, a jumping castle, face-painting and trick-or-treating. If that doesn’t keep everyone entertained, we don’t know what will!
Another fantastic gathering perfect for the young and young at heart, Mitchelton’s Blackwood Street Halloween Festival (Sunday, October 30) will be one giant, spooky party. Expect rides, market stalls, live music, tasty treats, creative stations and ‘best costume’ prizes. Or, enchant Harry Potter fans with a trip to Samford’s marvellous Store of Requirement. Open for late-night shopping on Halloween night (Monday, October 31), the store will be running mystifying potion-making classes.
In Brisbane’s Southside
Seeking a Halloween experience where the family can safely roam free? Gather the littlies and make tracks for the spectacular Calamvale Halloween in the Park (Saturday, October 29) at Calamvale District Park. Complete with a sausage sizzle, this community event will be topped off with a free movie under the stars.
Also bringing the community spirit, the Flagstone Twilight Markets at Flagstone State School (Saturday, October 29) invites you to enter its child-friendly Halloween Haunted House maze if you dare! There will also be stalls, bites and tunes, as well as costume competitions and special prizes.
In Brisbane’s Eastside
Returning for another year of spooky shenanigans, Hocus Pocus Halloween at Bulimba Memorial Park (Monday, October 31) will tick all the right boxes – food trucks, rides, lollies and entertainment. Be sure to also don your most frightening costume and discover Place Bulimba’s Trick or Treat Trail along Oxford Street on the same night! Look for the orange balloons and prepare to collect all the candy.
A short drive away, Murarrie Recreation Reserve will be hosting a Spooktacular Saturday event (Saturday, October 29) showcasing mini putt-putt, a spooky fun house, a photo booth and a moonlit film screening. Located a little further afield, the 2022 Ampol Wynnum Halloween Parade will keep up the time-honoured traditions by transforming Bay Terrace into a kooky carnival and parade. Think fireworks, bands and pumpkin carving!
In Brisbane’s Westside
Whether your little ones are adventurous with spice or you’re just looking for a Halloween event with a difference, add the Briz Chilli Fest Halloween 2022 (Saturday, October 29) to your must-visit list. Held at the Rocklea Showgrounds, this unique gathering will have spooky story-telling, a glow-in-the-dark dance area, craft activities, giant lawn games, an animal nursery and even pony rides. Adults, you will also find plenty to keep yourselves entertained, such as chilli-eating contests, cooking workshops and a hot rod display!
For those who simply cannot wait to kick off the festivities, take along a picnic blanket and settle in for Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary’s Freaky Friday Movie Night (Friday, October 28). With a magical screening of The Addams Family 2, this free event in Fig Tree Pocket will also make things unforgettable with food trucks, ‘best dressed’ competitions and a fully-licensed bar.
