Exciting new openings around Brisbane in 2023

A thriving city with plenty to love, Brisbane will be home to a collection of amazing projects and new openings in 2023.

Read on to get the heads-up on what lies ahead for Queensland’s capital…

The reimagined GPO

A true inner-city icon, the Fortitude Valley General Post Office building is set to become a new must-visit dining hub following a $7-million dollar renovation. Positioned on the corner of Ann and Ballow streets, the 1880s-built venue will host a new restaurant overseen by OTTO Brisbane’s General Manager Alan Hunter and Executive Chef Richard Ousby.

Championing the renovation is the renowned Artesian Hospitality group, who are also behind the popular Cali Beach Club and Surfers Pavilion. Expect incredible cuisine paired with sophisticated décor and a cosmopolitan location.

Supernormal Brisbane

Another exciting addition to the city’s dining scene, Supernormal Brisbane from celebrated chef Andrew McConnell will be the place to meet up for a special dinner or leisurely lunch when it opens its doors in 2023. Much like its famous Melbourne counterpart, the new venue will serve fine modern-Asian fare with a focus on fresh seafood. Diners will also be treated to stunning Brisbane River views, with the restaurant choosing a riverfront location between Eagle Street Pier and Howard Smith Wharves for its latest venture.

Hyatt Place Hotel Woolloongabba

A luxury stay-cation or inner-city escape is about to become all the more enticing in 2023. Forming part of Woolloongabba’s $700-million South City Square precinct, the Hyatt Place Hotel Woolloongabba plans to take reservations in the new year. Encompassing 170 rooms, the new hotel will also feature a 24-hour grab-and-go food market, a café, a lobby lounge and a fitness centre. Promising to be a highlight of a Hyatt Place Hotel stay will be the hotel’s rooftop entertainment area, which will have a swimming pool, bar and panoramic city views.

Mater Health Hub in Springfield

Providing excellent service for the community and education for future medical-workers, the new Mater Health Hub in Springfield is scheduled for a July 2023 inauguration. Showing the exceptional growth in this Brisbane-fringing suburb, the new facility will boast GP clinics and allied health services such as women’s healthcare and child development care. There will also be a dedicated centre for Mater Education for the Diploma of Nursing program, as well as opportunities for students gaining experience at the nearby Mater Private Hospital Springfield and Mater Hospital Springfield.

Brisbane Metro

Connecting the city to the suburbs, the yet-to-be-completed Brisbane Metro will stretch from its Eight Mile Plains Metro Depot to the Brisbane Airport. Also with planned stops at UQ’s Saint Lucia campus, Carindale, QUT’s Kelvin Grove campus and Chermside beyond, the fully electric light rail network is predicted to be operational in late 2023 (STCA). With the aim of reducing congestion bottlenecks in the city and offering easier public transport options, the Brisbane Metro will involve all-electric vehicles with zero tailpipe emissions.
