As one of the first of its kind, a property at 79 Buena Vista Avenue will see none other than a church become the centerpiece of a new multi-million-dollar home.
Located in one of Coorparoo’s most sought-after streets, this property will be one of the newest and brightest. The audacious design process has been finalised and construction has begun, transforming the historical church from Nanango into an exceptional property with city views, a focus on sustainability and extravagant features.
The church was initially opened in 1912 in Nanango, the fourth oldest town in Queensland and was utilised as a place of worship for over 170 parishioners. The developer who spotted this church, Bob Chambers and his team of architects decided to give the church a second life. Bob says the church was the perfect piece of architecture to bring his vision to life.
“It was perfect timing for me. I had been looking for a church to develop into a home for quite some time. The lot at 79 Buena Vista Avenue, Coorparoo became available around the same time I had found the church in Nanango. It was a dream come true and the church was the perfect fit for my vision.”
Coorparoo’s Buena Vista Avenue is a prestigious street, filled with stunningly unique homes. Mr Chambers chose the lot because he believes this development will fit in nicely with the surrounding homes and capture the great city views the street has to offer.
“The reason I chose to build on Buena Vista Avenue is that it is widely regarded to have the best city views in Coorparoo and I wanted to capture those views through this project.”
“The high profile of the street and the eclectic mix of buildings made Buena Vista Avenue stand out to me. Coorparoo is also very close to the city and houses some of the most beautiful and expensive homes in the Southside. I believe this home will fit in quite nicely,” says Mr Chambers.
The sustainability aspect of the project will set the home apart from the rest. Mr Chambers and the Architect on board, Peter McArdle of PTMA Architecture, are both passionate about sustainability. Functional plans won’t take away the prestigious element of the property, but rather enhance them.
Mr McArdle is able to explore the use of sustainability while still using luxury design materials throughout this project, which excites him.
“We are excited to collaborate with a client who values design, and is striving for quality in the build. It’s a project where there’s a strong sense of history. We get to explore that in a traditional building but then push beyond it with modern additions,” says Mr McArdle.
“The great thing about the home is that there is not one main sustainable feature, but many. The home is considered as a whole and a range of different sustainable measures are being pursued. These range from: solar panels, home battery, electric car charger, reuse of materials and underground draining - just to name a few.”
With construction underway, these features will soon be brought to life with the project predicted to be completed within 12 months. 79 Buena Vista Avenue will bring a whole new meaning to prestigious living - stay tuned.
