Thanks to the hard work of many dedicated locals, Brisbane is dotted with a multitude of magical Christmas lights displays. To get you ready for December 25th, we’ve put together a collection of fabulous displays located across the city. It’s time to crank up the Christmas carols and see it all…
Children and those young at heart will be utterly charmed by the dazzling display at 36 Sugarloaf Street, Wavell Heights. Joined by two neighbouring residences, the home features everything from giant inflatables and a sparkling Christmas tree to a mini festive village display. Minutes away, 8 Witt Street in Banyo will be a hit with animal-lovers (expect adorable polar bears and waddling penguins) and 10 Bend Court in Eatons Hill showcases a grand 8,500-light light display synchronised to classic Christmas tunes.
A little further north, Bald Hill’s Paladin Place invites you to scan the QR code on its letterbox to see your name in lights on its beautifully-decorated roof. Adding to the magic is an original pixel light show that feels like a kid-friendly Christmas rave!
Be sure to also check out the incredible display at Ferny Hills’ Larwood Place and the award-winning spectacle at 12 Bedarra Crescent, Burbengary East. With its laser light projections and ground-to-roof lights, it's no surprise this home took out the top spot for Kiss FM’s KISSmas Lights competition for the north side!
Looking for the perfect spot to snap a few cheeky Christmas photos? Head along to 242 Stanley Road in Carina and take your pick of amazing backgrounds, including a reindeer-led sleigh and Santa’s big red chair. Every inch of this mesmerising display has been lovingly decorated and the homeowners encourage visitors to respectfully get amongst it all. While in the area, don’t miss wandering through the spectacular display at Tingalpa’s 62 Annette Street and keep an eye out for a few favourite characters. Kids, we heard Olaf from Frozen might make an appearance this year…
In Brisbane’s Bayside region, Wynnum West’s 19 Nemarra Street is a true go-to when it comes to breathtaking Christmas lights. A favourite each year with visitors, their ‘Giants on the Hill’ display boasts a humungous custom-made Santa known as ‘the biggest in Australia’. Another must-see sight nearby, Capalaba’s 27 Greenfield Road has over 150,000 lights that dance in time to one seriously catchy Christmas playlist.
If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, ignore the 30-plus degree heat and make pretend by visiting 14 Mistral Street, Jamboree Heights. Featuring a snow machine, this whimsical display also has an oversized Santa’s sleigh and countless twinkling lights. Just a stone’s throw away, Jindalee’s 20 Curragundi Road, Sinnamon Park’s 17 McPherson Road and Middle Park’s 4 Burwick Close are repeatedly mentioned in ‘Brisbane’s best Christmas lights displays’ lists for a reason. There is simply so much to see in the west!
Happy to keep the road-trip happening? Venture out to 6 Rise Place in Heathwood. Here, you will find an overhead canopy of over 3,000 lights, a six-metre-tall Santa, bubble machines and towering four-metre-high inflatables. Or, belt out your best rendition of ‘Let it Go’ and visit Karalee’s 39 Louisa Place. Using only recycled and hand-painted timber embellished with lights, this Frozen-themed display is where you can meet Queen Elsa in person. We predict you’ll be humming ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman’ on the way home…
Promising to make your Christmas light-hunting worth the travel, Underwood Road in Rochedale South is home to two sensational displays. At 434 Underwood Road, walk under a glittering tunnel of lights and see the home’s front yard fully decked out in festive cheer. Down the street, 836 Underwood Road has a delightfully eclectic mix of Christmas characters, such as a cheerful octopus, a candy cane-yielding pig and mischievous elves.
Cherished by locals and Christmas light-lovers alike, the spellbinding display at Coopers Plains’ 10 Keeling Street never disappoints. Covered in an impressive array of colourful lights, the home is simply brimming with festive spirit! Similarly, 23 Homestead Street in Marsden is illuminated by over 30,000 lights and is a sight you won’t soon forget.
