Get ready to hit the streets of Brisbane to enjoy some of these spectacular Christmas light displays!
We’ve done the hard work for you and put together a guide to the most spellbinding Christmas light presentations across the city.
Taking out the top spot for the northern suburbs in Kiis 97.3fm’s KIISmas Lights 2022 competition, 12 Bedarra Crescent in Burpengary East is an absolute must-see. Utilising its corner block position to showcase a breathtaking 50,000-light display across two streets, this amazing set-up features giant inflatables, a laser show, a festive photobooth and much more! Just a short drive away, 1 Long Street in Contarf and 48 Daisy Street in Grange will also impress with their magical light displays.
Fans of a particular red-nosed reindeer should also set their GPS to 27 Stafford Minimine Street in Stafford. With one of the largest Rudolphs in Australia and a six-metre-tall digital Christmas tree, this amazing display also boasts a new floral light garden and bubble machines! Be sure to also get a photo with Santa and donate to the homeowners’ Guide Dogs Christmas Appeal fundraiser. Want more? Head over to 86 College Way in Boondall for an animated display with over 20,000 computer-controlled lights. You can also scan their QR code to request your favourite Christmas tune and hit the dance floor!
A regular on ‘Brisbane’s best Christmas lights display’ lists, 11 Lucy Drive in Edens Landing claimed Kiis 97.3fm’s ‘best on the south side’ title and it’s easy to see why. Ascend its sloping driveway and you will discover a sparkling wonderland filled with snowmen, Christmas trees, reindeer and candy canes – we can’t think of anything more festive!
If you’re after something a little more eclectic, check out 10 Keeling Street in Coopers Plains to see a massive koala, a Santa hat-wearing dragon and a sloth on a mailbox. Or, make tracks to 21 Hellier Court in Flinders View for towering gingerbread people, a children’s cubby house and a mega snow-globe. Also, don’t miss the super-colourful display at 101 Kempsie Road in Upper Mount Gravatt or the whole-street set-up at Tingalpa’s Abbeyfeale Steet.
For the best in the west, as named by Kiis 97.3fm, 4 Burwick Close in Middle Park is mandatory viewing. The display here is so popular you’ll have to park your car down the street and walk up to the closed-off cul-de-sac but it’s well worth the effort! This mind-boggling display is completely synchronised to music, making the whole house feel like a DJ set at a music festival. Along with Christmas classics, the talents behind this display often sneak in a few novelty songs – let’s just say, Top Gun fans will have to go along to see this year’s ‘Dangerzone’ display!
Minutes away, 1 Moncrieff Street in Mount Ommaney includes soaring illuminated palm trees and a snow machine. While in the area, head to 5 Kaputar Close in Riverhills, 8 Lee Road in Darra and 6 Rise Place in Heathwood. A little further afield, 7 Victoria Street in Kelvin Grove is a charming Queenslander completely covered in twinkling lights.
Aptly named ‘Giants on the Hill’, the mesmerising display at Wynnum West’s 19 Nemarra Street won Kiis 97.3fm’s top prize for the eastern suburbs. Expect lasers, thousands of LED bulbs and Australia’s tallest inflatable Santa! Also in the bayside region, 39 Whipbird Circuit in Victoria Point and Mount Cotton’s 16 Elkorn Street will both surprise and enchant.
Closer to the city, 27 Greenfield Road in Capalaba has an interactive display with moving lasers that is truly unmissable. Promising maximum lights in just one trip, Ashbury Court in Alexandra Hills is a cul-de-sac filled with glittering displays. That’s sure to get you feeling Christmas-y!
