“Family photographs are like a window into a beautiful special moment in time, especially if they are created with authenticity, wonder and joy,” says Jess from Essence Images.
Specialising in capturing the essence and unique personalities of Brisbane families, Jess takes happy snaps to ensure memories last through the ages.
Taking her passion and skills in photography, Jess also teaches classes that educate students on how to, not only get the best shot, but to also make each client feel comfortable.
Having photographed agent Alex Rutherford and her family since their son was a newborn, we thought it would be fitting for Alex to sit down with Jess and ask her tips for the best locations to shoot around Brisbane.
“Having Jess’ photography around our home provides memories of happy moments we’ve shared as a family while our son has grown up,” says Alex.
Here we have a photographers pick of the best locations around Brisbane.
Jess, why do you think it’s important to have family photographs around the home?
The days are long, but the years are short - this quote always resonates with me especially as a parent and also as a photographer, as I understand how quickly children grow up.
There are so many reasons why having your family photographed is a wonderful thing.
Family portraits remind us of belonging to something bigger than ourselves. They remind us of “home” and remind us of being loved and connected.
It’s important to show a family as a “team”, the people children feel most connected to, ensuring the feel secure and can be the best version of themselves.
Having images visible is a constant reminder of what’s important in life and the shared experiences we have together as a family.
