We caught up with current president of the group Morgan Lee, who shares with us what being apart of the team involves.
How did Our Stones Corner start?
A collection of business owners formed the Stones Corner Community & Economic Development Association, which has now been coined as Our Stones Corner.
This group formed to stimulate sustainable growth in the area that fosters, improves and enhances community cultural and artistic activities.
How many people are involved?
At present, there are three management committee members and approximately 10-15 additional property owners, traders, managers and residents who attend and participate in meetings and activities.
What was the vision behind Our Stones Corner?
Our Stones Corner strives for the sustainable development of Stones Corner with an emphasis on economic and community development.
We help to create the positive environment where people can live, work and play. A Place where businesses can flourish within the unique community that is Stones Corner.
Is that vision still in place now?
The focus of the group has always ebbed and flowed, however, the vision has always remained the same.
The group is there to foster growth and encourage a spirit of cooperation and interaction between all groups of the committee.
What does being President of Our Stones Corner involve?
The President of Our Stones Corner involves many different facets from facilitating meetings, fostering programs with Brisbane City Council and the local traders, and focusing and driving the marketing for Stones Corner both online and off.
But most of all, providing leadership & support for its members.
