Nestled away in the streets of Bulimba, in prime location along the riverfront, Bulimba Golf Club’s one of Brisbane’s best kept secrets.
The relaxed, family environment of Bulimba Golf Club feels just like a home away from home, welcoming everyone to play and socialise.
With a restaurant, bar and live entertainment, the club is the perfect place to catch up with mates and socialise with the local community.
Give us a little snapshot of what the club is like?
Bulimba Golf Club had the first gaming licence here in Queensland and has been around for over 50 years.
The 9-hole par 3 course is a beautiful location, right on the river, and welcomes all social golfers as well as providing a challenge for the more specialised players.
Not only do we have a strong focus on golf, but the club also provide lots of community entertainment over the weekends, from live music to a jumping castle for the kids.
Our kitchen is open Thursday through to Sunday with live bands performing – the place turns into a bit of a concert hall and is great fun.
Bulimba Golf Club has something for everyone in the community.
We always host parties whether they be children’s birthdays, reunions, weddings, bucks party’s or just a get-together with mates.
What does the Bulimba Golf Club give to the local community?
The Bulimba Golf Club provides a place for the local community to gather with friends and family.
It’s a place to hangout, relax and enjoy a bit of friendly competition.
We’re in a family orientated community here, and down at Bulimba Golf Club we create an atmosphere welcoming to the whole family.
It’s a place where parents can catch up with friends and relax over a drink while the kids burn some energy and the whole family can get together for a delicious meal from the kitchen.
It’s very chilled out down at Bulimba Golf Club and we want it to feel as comfortable as hanging out in your own backyard.
Even though we’ve been here for so many years, we’re a little tucked away off the main strip of Bulimba.
We still have people turn up and say “we had no idea there was a golf club here”, which is great because we always welcome new players!
Why do you think so many people love the sport?
It’s great because it’s a non-contact sport and is focussed on technique.
You can always improve your golf game and that makes it exciting.
There’s something so enjoyable about getting out on the course and giving a golf ball a good hit.
People love that they can walk around with mates, drinks in hand, and have a nice relaxing time.
When’s the best time to come and have a hit?
We are open all throughout the week and welcome our members to come down and have a hit anytime.
Every morning we have member’s competitions – it’s a great way to start the day.
Friday is the ideal weekday because you can come down after work, unwind over a game of golf and enjoy a nice meal at the restaurant from our world-class chef.
Sunday is the perfect time to catch up with friends and family over a few cold drinks and a bit of friendly competition.
For those of us who don’t know much about golf, are there lessons?
We have two club pros at the moment who come and teach lessons throughout the week and on the weekends.
Every year we also host the Junior Championships for the Brisbane District Juniors.
It’s a small course here where the juniors can learn how to play and we like to encourage learning the sport from a young age.
We’re seeing more and more children become involved with the sport.
We also have lessons for our members where they can improve and grow their skills.
Bulimba Golf Club’s all about involving everybody and letting everyone have a bit of fun, no matter their skill level.
