Are you thinking of selling your home but not sure it’s up to scratch to go on the market?

Selling a property can be stressful, especially when it comes to repairs and cleanliness.

There are some simple and quick DIY things you can do to instantly add value to your home.

We sat down with agent Mia Razek, to hear her top tips on how to spring clean your home and whip it into shape to wow potential buyers.

1.     Declutter and reorganise

Decluttering shelves, tables and cupboards will make a space seem larger and instantly have buyers feeling refreshed.

Organise the items you have in these areas to help potential buyers see the space clearer.

2.     Make every surface shine

This is a pretty obvious one.

Make sure everything is polished and wiped down before an open home.

This will instantly make the spaces seem fresh and welcoming.

3.     Basic landscaping

You would be surprised how much a great garden changes the look of a home.

The most important area would be your front garden. This is what buyers will see first.

First impressions are important. If the home is presented nicely, it’ll start prospective owners off with a positive feeling, ahead of touring through the rest of the home.

It’s simple things like weeding, pulling out dead plants or leaves, mowing and making sure it looks presentable.

It’s really easy and simple - you only need to make slight alterations. You won't have to plant a whole new garden!

4.     Simple repairs

Fixing up little twinges here and there will improve the overall look of your home.

Touch up your paint if there are any chips, cover dents in the walls and fix rusty areas.

If you do these simple things, it means the future buyer won't have too and your home will most likely sell quicker.

5.     Eliminate any bad odour

When walking into a space one of the first things people notice is smell.

Make your home smell inviting.

Eliminate any bad odours by making sure your bins are emptied and taken out before buyers come through.

Always ensure the dirty dishes are put away and the sink smells fresh.

Burn a candle before an open or get an air freshener to welcome potential buyers with a gorgeous smelling home.
